Abstract: Cervical cancer is one of the most common malignancy of women, which has caused a serious threat to the health of women. The tumor microenvironment of cervical cancer consists of cancer-associated fibroblasts, tumor associated macrophages, immune cells, extracellular matrix and other ingredients. For HPV positive cervical cancer, one of roles of HPV in promoting cervical carcinogenesis was that HPV activated IL-6/STAT3 signaling. Tumor-associated fibroblasts and tumor-associated macrophages, which are two important cells in the tumor microenvironment, can secret many cytokines and interact with several constituents of tumor microenvironment, and thus facilitating the genesis, development and metastasis of tumor. Moreover, various immune cells, namely Langerhans cell, helper T cell, cytotoxic T cell, regulatory T cell and components of extracellular matrix, such as MMP,TGF-β,VEGF consist in the microenvironment of cervical cancer as well, exercising a great influence on the genesis and development of cervical cancer. By studying the microenvironment,it will help us to further understand the mechanism of development and progression of cervical cancer, which thus provides the basis for clinical diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer. The paper reviews recent advances of tumor microenvironment in cervical cancer.
