The Impact of the Uterine Ligament Damage and the Surgical Treatment in the Pelvic Floor Functional Disorder

Abstract: Pelvic floor functional disorder is one of the women′s common diseases, seriously impact women′s quality of life. The normal structure and function of the pelvic floor depends on the composite support of the pelvic floor muscles and ligaments. Damage of connective tissue and its supporting ligaments of the vaginal is the common cause of the pelvic abnormal symptoms and pelvic organ prolapse, the connective tissue and muscle relaxation and contraction can be observed in the pelvic floor functional disorder. We summarize the molecular mechanism of collagen changes when the uterine ligament damage occurs and the surgical treatment of pelvic floor functional disorder, including simple repair and mesh implants, as well as the long-term therapeutic effect.
