Abstract: Adenomyosis is one of the common diseases in women. Its common symptoms, such as dysmenorrhea and excessive menstruation, often have a serious impact on the quality of life. It is usually complicated with anemia or even shock. Adenomyosis is believed to cause adverse pregnancy and infertility. The effect of conservative treatment of adenomyosis is poor and recurrence is easy. Some patients need to receive surgical treatment. The pathogenesis of adenomyosis is still unclear, and it has become a research hotspot in the field of gynecology in recent years. As an important physiological mechanism regulating cell growth and metabolism, autophagy plays an important role in the occurrence and development of many diseases including tumors. In recent years, the role of autophagy in the occurrence, development, and outcome of adenomyosis has attracted increasing attention. This paper summarizes the latest research progress on the role of autophagy in adenomyosis and discusses the potential role of autophagy in the treatment of adenomyosis.
