Arachidonic Acid and Its Metabolites with Perimenopause

Abstract: Arachidonic acid is one of the essential free fatty acids. Arachidonic acid and its products play an important role in regulating the body inflammation, blood vessels, elastic, leukocyte function, bone remodeling and platelet activation. Recent studies have found that arachidonic acid levels in the blood may change after menopause. Arachidonic acid and its product are related with postmenopausal hypertension, obesity, osteoporosis, etc. Moreover, after menopause, dietary factors can regulate the content of blood arachidonic acid. In this paper, before and after menopausal transition to the variation in content of arachidonic acid and its possible mechanism and postmenopausal women the relationship between diet and arachidonic acid in the body change were summarized.
