Abstract: Objective:To study the correlation effect between serum calcium and Hemabat in prevention of postpartum hemorrhage. Methods:Fifty-nine patients after childbirth and treated with Hemabat to prevent postpartum hemorrhage were selected from June 2003 to December 2010 in our hospital. The subjects were divided into 2 groups according to the measured serum calcium results:27 cases in normal calcium;32 cases in low calcium group. The quantity of blooding, the quantity of blooding during 24h after application of Hemabat, the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage, blood calcium concentration and the total quantity of Hemabat were compared among these 2 groups. Results:The difference between low blood calcium group and normal blood calcium group were significant(P<0.01) among the quantity of blooding, the quantity of blooding during 24h after application of Hemabat, the incidence of postpartum hemorrhage, blood calcium concentration and the total quantity of Hemabat. Conclusions:There is correlation effect between serum calcium and Hemabat in prevention of postpartum hemorrhage.
