Reviews on Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone and Its Receptors

Abstract: Gonadotropin releasing hormone(GnRH), secreted by the hypothalamus, plays an important role in the reproduction and maturity by regulating the pituitary-gonadal axis; it can also act in an autocrine or paracrine pattern on tissues outside the hypothalamus. GnRH and its receptors have been cloned from a variety of species, and express in both normal and abnormal reproductive related tissues, including endometriosis, endometrial cancer, and ovary cancer and so on. The function of different subtypes of GnRH and its receptors, new derivates in the treatment of endometriosis, infertility and tumor are reviewed in this article.
