Abstract: Human epididymis protein 4 (HE4) is a ovarian cancer marker suggested recently. A study revealed that HE4 highly expressed in ovarian cancer tissues, whereas HE4 expressed lower in paracancerous tissues, benign and normal tissue. In ovarian serous cancer,HE 4 gene expression level is higher than that in other malignant tumor. HE4 may be involved in the regulation of cell cycle, and promote the transfer of ovarian cancer and intrusion. Research shows that HE4 is a potential effective ovarian tumor markers, and is likely more efficiency than CA125. And that HE4 have certain relations with cancer pathological classification, tumor metastasis, the prognosis of tumor. Detection of HE4 may have a certain value for diagnosis and monitoring of ovarian cancer.
