Abstract: As a result of temporary social trends, many women select to postpone their first pregnancy to a later stage in life. A large part of this population will be infertile by the time they decide to conceive, mainly because of a decreasing ovarian reserve(DOR)and low oocyte quality resulting from age. Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA)is now utilized in approximately one third of all IVF centers world wide, which provide a new idea for the treatment of patients with poor ovarian function. It has been reported to improve oocytes yields and pregnancy rate with DOR. However, these studies have not been widely recognized due to the drawbacks of the research methods and the small sample size. Increasing DHEA utilization and publication of a first prospectively randomized trial now warrants a systematic review.
