Abstract: Metastasis-associated in colon cancer-1 (MACC1) is a previously undescribed gene associated with colon cancer by genome-wide expression analysis in primary and metastatic carcinomas. In the past two years, some studies of MACC1 have been carried out in the metastasis of cancer and the aspect of prognosis. These studies indicated a potential value of MACC1 as a molecular target in cancer metastasis therapy. This article summarize the discovery, structure, expression and function of MACC1 gene.
