Abstract: Human epididymis protein 4 (HE4) was firstly found in epididymis epithelial cells, located in chromosome 20q12-13.1. It stretches approximately 12 kb. HE4 alone,or together with CA125 can not only help to identify benign or malignant ovarian tumors, and diagnose first stage ovarian cancer, but is also an important index to monitor post-operation effect and predict the possible recurrence after operation. HE4 in endometrial cancer patients of all stages would unexceptionally rises. HE4 diagnosing of early patients is more sensitive than CA125. HE4 is connected with the depth of the invasion of endometrial cancer. HE4 is a useful index for determining if lymph cleaning is necessary before operation. Risk of ovarian malignancy algorithm(ROMA) can successfully predict the high-risk patients with pelvic masses. In diagnosing gynecological diseases by HE4, the interference of lung cancer should be ruled out.
