Influence of Fetal Microchimerism on the Maternal Body
    YAN Hua-ying;WANG Chen-hong
    2013, 40 (1):  7-9.
    Abstract ( 2043 )   PDF (411KB) ( 5487 )
Fetal microchimerism(FMC)resides widely in woman′s body during pregnancy. Although the exact mechanism of FMC is not clear,in recent years several studies have been made which illustrate the influences of FMC on the maternal body. The abnormality of FMC may be related with complications of pregnancy and adverse pregnancy outcome, such as preeclampsia. FMC are also implicated in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases which usually occur to women and ameliorate during pregnancy. It has also been proposed that genetically disparate FMC may protect mother from some cancers, because it can offer new alleles for mother. FMC are often found at sites of maternal injury and may play an active role in regeneration of tissue injury. This article will summarize the influence of FMC on the maternal body.

    SHEN Feng-xian;LYU Shi-ming
    2013, 40 (1):  10-13.
    Abstract ( 1596 )   PDF (482KB) ( 5132 )
Human cytomegalovirus(CMV) is the most common pathogene of congenital viral infection. Pathological changes of placenta resulted from CMV infection of placenta combined with cytopathy caused by fetal infection induce serious birth defects, which will be severe challenges to aristogenesis rearing of the state. For a long time, scholars in different countries have been working together to prevent and control symptomatic congenital CMV infection. Both primary and secondary maternal infection can cause intrauterine transmission. CMV serological screening is important for identifying high risk pregnancy. HCMV-specific IgG avidity assay provides more information besides IgG and IgM testing. Once we prove maternal CMV infection, fetal prognosis assessment is most critical. Amniotic fluid CMV-DNA detection and imaging studies could be used to diagnosis of intrauterine infection and fetal prognosis.

Significance of Stem Cells in the Pathogenesis of Endometriosis
    YU Cong-xiang;SONG Jing-hui
    2013, 40 (1):  27-30.
    Abstract ( 1369 )   PDF (616KB) ( 5122 )
The pathogenesis of endometriosis(EMs) which is multifactorial remains unclear. Studies have proved there are stem/progenitor cells(SC) in endometrium, including endometrium-derived and bone marrow-derived SC,which induce the periodic regeneration of endometrium. More and more studies attempt to identify specific markers of SC in order to isolate and characterize endometrial SC. And they put forward the endometrial stem cell hypothesis of EMs,which consider EMs is induced by abnormal proliferation and differentiation of SC. All kinds of stem cells provide the“seeds”,while menstrual reflux, estrogen therapy and the microenvironment provide the“soil”. Once the seeds meet the soil,EMs will occure. This hypothesis uncovers a new era of the pathogenesis and clinical research on EMs.

    LU Ze-chun;LI Ya-li
    2013, 40 (1):  31-34.
    Abstract ( 1323 )   PDF (629KB) ( 5128 )
Endometriosis is a relatively common condition in women of reproductive age. the pathogenesis and development of endometriosis are still poorly understood. The theory of retrograde menstruation with implantation of endometrial fragments,in conjunction with peritoneal factors to stimulate cell growth is the most widely accepted. Immunological factors and angiogenesis also influence the pathogenesis of endometriosis. Endometriosis lesions are inevitably exposed to ischaemia and hypoxia microenvironment that could adversely influence the initiation and progression of the disease. The present review highlights the fact that hypoxia play an important role in genesis of endometriotic lesions. hypoxia is connected with angiogenesis and apoptosis and immune injury of the endometriotic lesions. The effects of hypoxia can be protected by estrogen. Certain proangiogenic and antiangiogenic plant components have been used in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in healing endometrisis successfully. This review also explores the prospects of hypoxia on TCM therapies, which may be a new idea for endometriosis drug treatments.

    2013, 40 (1):  35-39.
    Abstract ( 1458 )   PDF (628KB) ( 5092 )
Systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE) is an autoimmunologic disease that most commonly happens in women of reproductive age. Exposure to estrogen is one of the reasons that may trigger or aggravate lupus. On one hand, SLE itself as well as the treatment may cause ovarian malfunction, premature ovarian failure and osteoporosis. On the other hand, high estrogen status, such as pregnancy or hormonal supplement, may lead to relapse of SLE. As survival rate improves with the development of therapeutic measures, more and more women with SLE come to be faced with the need for pregnancy, assisted reproductive therapy or hormone replacement therapy, which brings up a potential risk of aggravating the disease. This essay aims at reviewing the reproductive healthcare of women with SLE from the aforesaid prospective.

    BAO Ling-jie;YI Xiao-fang
    2013, 40 (1):  54-56.
    Abstract ( 1618 )   PDF (720KB) ( 5226 )
Autophagy is called“TypeⅡ Programmed Cell Death” in which the cell digests damaged organelles and molecules with lysosomal system and maintains energy cycling. The dysfunction of autophagy is related to cancer. Ovarian cancer is of great malignance. While most of patients are diagnosed with advanced stage and will eventually relapse, the 5-year survival rate is approximately 20%-25%. It is investigated that autophagy has some connection with the carcinogenesis, prognosis and treatment of ovarian cancer. Some autophagy-related genes such as Beclin 1 were shown downregulated in ovarian cancer tissue, while overexpression of PEA-15, an autophagy-related protein, was reported to be associated with longer survival rate in women with ovarian cancer, and thus to be a potentially promising prognostic biomarker. The role of autophagy in the management of ovarian cancer is still debating. This review aims to address the progression of autophagy in ovarian cancer.

    Abstract ( 1529 )   PDF (749KB) ( 5129 )
Ovarian cancer is one of the most sophisticated gynecological problems with undetermined etiology and high mortality, demanding prompt solutions. Although various hypotheses have been introduced previously, none of which can fully elucidate the pathogenesis of ovarian cancer. Recent researches have shown that the immune system is closely associated with neuroendocrine system in patients with ovarian cancer. Estrogen on hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis and Treg、Th17 cells in internal immune environment lay in the same tumor microenvironment of ovarian cancer. Based on this, this review deals with the recent progress and circumstances on interrelations among estrogen、Th17 /Treg and ovarian cancer in order to broaden minds for further study from the perspective of neuro-endocrine-immunoregulatory network.

    Abstract ( 1732 )   PDF (751KB) ( 5174 )
Ovarian cancer is gynecological malignancy with the highest death rate from the disease.Due to the insidious nature of ovarian cancer, the majority of patients at time of diagnosis have progressed to stage Ⅲ or stage Ⅳ disease. Surgery is the main treatment of ovarian cancer, optimal cytoreduction is the independent factors affecting prognosis. Patients with advanced ovarian cancer often have disease invading the upper abdomen, most commonly, the diaphragm,about18%-42%. And the metastasis is also difficult to managed, leads to suboptimal cytoreduction with reducing survival rate。A number of surgical techniques are available to effect cytoreduction of diaphragmatic involvement by ovarian cancer。Diaphragm metastasis is not abstacle of optimal cytoreduction, and diaphragm resection is necessary procedure of cytoreduction. This Article is to describe the application of the technology in ovarian cancer.

Methods:The expression of GPR30 and EGFR in 20 cases of endometrial atypical hyperplasia (EAH group) and 50 cases of endometrial carcinoma (EAC group) were detected by immunohistochemical EliVision two stages method. Another 20 cases of normal endometrial tissue specimen were as a control group. Results:In group of control, EAH group and EAC group, the positive rates of GPR30 were 10.0%,45.0% and 74.0%,respectively. The differences among the three groups was statistically significant(P<0.001),EAH group was significantly higher than the control group(P<0.05), and significantly lower than the EAC group(P<0.05). In EAC patients, the expression of GPR30 was not associated with age,surgery-pathological stage, depth of myometrial invasion, tumor size and lymph node metastasis(P>0.05,respectively) but
the type of histology, the expression of GPR30 with different tumor grade showed a significant statistical difference(P<0.05).
The expression rates of EGFR in normal endometrium,EAH and EAC tissues were 30.0%, 40.0% and 70.0%, respectively, showing a rising trend. The positive expression rate and expression intensity of EGFR in EAC group was significantly higher than that in EAH group or control group (P<0.05,P<0.001, respectively),but the difference of that between EAH group and control group were no statistical significance(P>0.05). In the EAC group, EGFR positive expression intensity correlated with FIGO stage, histopathological grade or tumor diameter (P<0.05,respectively),its expression did not correlate with any other clinicopathological parameters(P>0.05). Positively correlation between the expression of GPR30 and that of EGFR was
observed in EAC group (r=0.308,P<0.05) Conclusions:GPR30 and EGFR probably have relationships with the occurrence and development of endometrial carcinoma. GPR30 and EGFR expression in endometrial adenocarcinoma was positively
correlated with each other, there could be interaction between the two. GPR30 and EGFR could be more effective novel
    therapeutic targets of endometrial cancer.

    Abstract ( 1414 )   PDF (2573KB) ( 5096 )
Objective:To investigate the aberrant methylation and the expression of Hedgehog Interacting Protein (HHIP) gene in endometrial carcinoma, and to explore the possible relationship between the methylation of the gene and the expression of the gene and their effect on the carcinogenesis and the proliferation of the endometrial carcinoma. Methods:The promoter methylation status of HHIP gene was tested by methylation-specific PCR in 20 normal endometrium tissus and 30 endometrial carcinoma tissus. The expression of HHIP was studied by histochemistry in 20 cases of normal endometrium and 30 cases of endometrial carcinoma. The correlation between the methylation status and endometrial carcinoma ,the correlation between the HHIP silencing and endometrial carcinoma as well as the correlation between the methylation status and the silencing of HHIP were tested by SPSS 13.0. Results:The frequencies of hepermethylation of HHIP in normal endometrium tissues were 0%(0/20),while the frequencies of heper-methylation of HHIP in endometrial carcinoma tissue were 40%(12/30). The methylation rate in endometrial carcinoma tissue was higher than the methylation rate in normal endometrium tissue. All the normal endometrium tissues showed positive staining pattern of HHIP protein(20/20). 40%(8/20) of endometrial carcinoma
tissues showed positive staining pattern of HHIP protein. In endometrial cancer, the HHIP protein silencing was easier to be found than in the normal endometrium tissue. The hepermethylation of HHIP gene was not related with the expression of HHIP protein(P>0.05). Conclusions:HHIP is related to the occurrence and the development of the endometrial carcinoma. The methylation rate in endometrial carcinoma tissue is higher than that in normal endometrium tissue. In endometrial cancer, the HHIP protein silencing is easier to be found than in the normal endometrium tissue. The methylation of the HHIP gene promoter may be related to the silencing of the expression of the protein to some extent, and it may be involved in the occurrence of the endometrial carcinoma. However, methylation may not be the only reason for the silencing of the expression of HHIP, and other mechanisms remain to be revealed.
